In the winter of 2008/2009 I decided to do a photographic portrait of the LETS community where I live (west Dorset). I’m very grateful to all those who let me photograph them. Local Exchange Trading Systems (LETS) make a lot of sense: we all have skills and it seems daft not to be using them and benefitting from them.

[...] LETS project Hello. I’m currently part-way through a project photographing members of the LETS (Local Exchange Trading Systems) groups near where I live. I have exhibition space booked for May and am hoping to get a few writers involved in doing essays to accompany the photographs. I’d like it to be a book too. Happy to hear any comments although I reserve the right to ignore the one’s I don’t like! All shot on the M6 and either TMAX 400 or HP5 developed in Fotospeed FD10 (for reasons of economy). PETE. I keep a couple of hives of my bees in a communal orchard at Symondsbury. Would that be a good place to get a photograph of me playing with them? It isn’t the right time of year for doing exciting things with them but we could maybe take a roof off and have a few props scattered around.

Beautiful photos. I hope the project continues to go well. Thrilled to think you made our lot at Monkton look as dignified and respectable as all the fine faces above, and looking forward to the exhibition in May.
